There are times in most lives where a low point is hit, a dark place where there there seems to be no way out. Whether it is financial, emotional, relational, spiritual, or physical, the feeling of desperation and hopelessness is overwhelming and almost unbearable. As an artist, my take is that art exists to portray, identify with, and encourage those in such places. For me, artistry is a storytelling vehicle that sheds enlightenment and brings healing. In re-reading a short play by Thornton Wilder I found encouragement for myself and hopefully for other broken souls out there.

Without your wound where would your power be? It is your very remorse that makes your low voice tremble into the hearts of men. The very angels themselves cannot persuade the wretched and blundering children on earth as can one human being broken on the wheels of living. In Love’s service only the wounded soldiers can serve.  ~The Angel
